Prayer for Christian Unity, Jerusalem, January 2012

The week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2012 was prepared by the representative of the Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church and Old Catholic and Protestant Churches active in Poland. The theme that is proposed for this year was : “We will be changed by the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ” (cf. 1 Cor 15,51-58).

On Sunday 15th of January Fr Frans Bouwen, Miss.Af., gave a lecture on “L’actualite oecumenique en 2011” at the Monastery of the Emmanuel in Bethlehem.
Around fifty people gathered there to listen to his presentation about the situation and events in ecumenical movement within the Churches in 2011. In his precise and excellent lecture he presented the dialogue that continous between the Catholic Church, Orthodox Churches, Anglican, Lutheran, and Reform Churches, as well as with the World Council of Churches, and the ecumenical movements in the Middle East and in Jerusalem.

The prayers in Jerusalem, January 21-29. 2012, took place in different dominational Churches. The first prayer was held in Anastasis (Holy Sepulchre) and during the whole week we met in the Anglican Cathedral, the Armenian Cathedral, the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the Latin Patriarchate’s Church, the Cenacle, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the Coptic Church, and we finished our meetings and prayer, in the Greek Catholic Church of the Annunciation with a beautifully prepared Vespers.
